A quick and flavorful Mongolian Beef dish with tender strips of beef marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, served over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef flank steak into thin strips.
  2. Mix the marinade by combining soy sauce, brown sugar, minced ginger, cornstarch, and water in a bowl.
  3. Marinate the sliced beef in the marinade for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Cook the marinated beef in the pan for about 5-7 minutes until nicely browned.
  6. Stir-fry the minced garlic and sliced green onions for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Serve the Mongolian Beef hot over a bed of rice.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a splash of sesame oil or mirin to the marinade. Substitute flank steak with sirloin or skirt steak if needed.
